  • Great Lakes ADA Center - Focusing on Accessibility: The Impact to Your Park System

    Free Webinar | February 12, 2026 | 2-3:30 p.m. ET

We are all working in a time where diminished budgets and increasing demands push us to find alternate solutions for resources. What if changing how we frame our parks and recreation systems' needs and requirements allows us to reach more of our community members and have a greater impact overall?

This session will provide a look into how Parks and Recreation departments can re-frame their approach to design and programming when focus is tuned to accessibility. Shifting focus unlocks additional opportunities for asset management, support, and funding. We’ll discuss the various regulatory obligations, the importance of community connection as well as the numerous opportunities for alternative funding.

A popular topic that the Northeast ADA Center gets asked about is service animals. It can be confusing for individuals with disabilities, businesses, transit providers, and the public to know what rights a person with a disability has under which law, in which places, and what’s required. This webinar will discuss what is a service animal or an assistance animal—and where these animals can or cannot go.
